A nice idea for a country tea time
For 4 people, this recipe contains:
400 g of wheat flour
100 g of cheese butter
1 tablespoon baking soda
125 g grated cheddar cheese
25 g chopped wild garlic
In addition, what you will need:
200 ml of milk
2 eggs
salt
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 220°C.
- In a bowl, mix the flour and cold butter until you obtain a texture resembling wet sand.
- Add salt, bicarbonate, finely chopped wild garlic and grated cheddar. Mix well.
- In another bowl, combine eggs and milk.
- Mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients. The dough will be a bit sticky but that's normal.
- Sprinkle the work surface with flour and flatten the dough to about 2.5 cm high. Using a glass or cookie cutter, cut out scones.
- Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and brush the surface with a little milk.
- Sprinkle the top of the scones with extra cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 14 minutes until the surface is golden brown.
