A nice idea for a country tea time

For 4 people, this recipe contains:

400 g of wheat flour

100 g of cheese butter

1 tablespoon baking soda

125 g grated cheddar cheese

25 g chopped wild garlic

In addition, what you will need:

200 ml of milk

2 eggs

salt

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour and cold butter until you obtain a texture resembling wet sand.
  3. Add salt, bicarbonate, finely chopped wild garlic and grated cheddar. Mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine eggs and milk.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients. The dough will be a bit sticky but that's normal.
  6. Sprinkle the work surface with flour and flatten the dough to about 2.5 cm high. Using a glass or cookie cutter, cut out scones.
  7. Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and brush the surface with a little milk. 
  8. Sprinkle the top of the scones with extra cheddar cheese.
  9. Bake for 14 minutes until the surface is golden brown.

Ready to go!
